01 Oct How 2nd Milk Feeds Hungry Babies In Malawi
Now that we have introduced ourselves, let’s talk about how 2nd Milk gets life saving milk to feed hungry babies in Malawi, Africa.
- Step 1: Give life! 2nd Milk provides formula and other nutrition to babies until they are two years old. This is made possible through generous sponsorships by people like you who partner with us. We are also partnering with a church in Texas (more info to come at a later date) to provide families with spiritual food as they come to get formula and/or porridge!
- Step 2: Establish a for-profit business here in the U.S. to help feed babies aged 2-5 who have graduated out of the 2nd Milk program. Plans are still in development for this but should come together in the next year or two.
- Step 3: We are praying God opens the doors to build chicken houses. The goal is to use the income from those businesses to build and sustain private Christian schools for Malawi children aged 5-18. The chicken houses will serve a dual purpose; not only will the provide more protein for a malnourished country, but they will also provide stable jobs for the same families that struggled to feed their babies in the first place!
- Step 4: Sadly, occasionally families can’t or don’t maintain the health of their babies with the formula and training we give them. This is where the adoption piece of the plan comes in. We have already been able to bring one precious little girl, Maya Faith, to her forever family here in the U.S. through 2nd Milk. For many babies like Maya Faith, this is their best option and opportunity for life. Her story is an unbelievable God story that we will be writing about here on the blog very soon.
At times I get completely overwhelmed by this great undertaking but, God reminds me he can use anyone and any circumstance to effect change for the whole world! Are we that change? Can 2nd Milk make a difference for just 1 child, 1 country or even 1 great big world? That is the question. So, what is the answer? The answer is Philippians 4:13: I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength. Better yet, WE can do all things through Him!
If it is even 1 baby saved…baby, it’s worth it! Get it? “Baby” because it’s babies we are helping and “it’s worth it” because of the song! Hahahaha! Sometimes I crack myself up…Sorry I’m done 🙂
So, yeah, it is definitely worth it. If you don’t believe me…come with us to Malawi! Next year we want to gather a team and head on over! We will make sure you have all the information you need for a successful mission experience. For information, email us at email@example.com. #GiveLife
